About the McComb Made Initiative
The McComb Made initiative, in partnership with Greater Hope Mission and the McComb Housing Authority, is designed to employ and empower individuals experiencing poverty and homelessness through paid job training, access to a healing community, and meaningful employment in a collective arts-based business enterprise. The project aims to foster community and economic development by integrating art and business education, particularly within underserved communities.

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Screen Printing Teacher to join the McComb Made initiative on a contract basis. This role is ideal for someone with experience in screen printing who is excited about teaching and contributing to a community-focused initiative. The Screen Printing Teacher will be responsible for training participants in various screen printing techniques and helping them develop skills that can lead to employment opportunities.

This is a contract position, offering flexible hours, and may require occasional evening or weekend availability for events.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction and Training

  • Teach participants the fundamentals of screen printing, including design, preparation, and printing techniques.
  • Guide participants through the creation of unique clothing lines and other screen-printed products.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that cater to various skill levels, from beginners to more advanced learners.

Participant Development

  • Provide one-on-one mentorship to participants, helping them to build confidence and technical proficiency.
  • Assess participants’ progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their skills.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Studio Oversight

  • Manage the screen printing studio, ensuring equipment is used safely and responsibly.
  • Maintains studio inventory, monitors supplies, and communicates with the Project Manager regarding needed materials or equipment maintenance.

Public Engagement

  • Assist with community events, exhibitions, and pop-up markets that showcase participants’ work.
  • Encourage participants to engage with the community through these events and help promote McComb Made products.

Administrative Tasks

  • Keep accurate records of participant attendance and progress.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to contribute to the broader goals and reporting requirements of the initiative.

 Qualifications

  • Proven experience in screen printing, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
  • Prior teaching or instructional experience is highly desirable, particularly in community or adult education settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines as outlined in the contract.
  • Passion for community development, empowerment, and social justice.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a contract-based role.

 Contract Details

Compensation:  $15.80 per hour, 15.5 hours per week, 26 weeks ($6,367.40)
Schedule: Part-time with flexible hours; may include some evenings and weekends depending on project needs.
Duration: Contract will run for 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs.
