Community Supported Art

Community Supported ART! (CSA)

What is a CSA?

Over the last 20 years, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular way for consumers to buy seasonal food directly from local farms. With the same buy-local spirit in mind, Community Supported Art is a similar endeavor to support local art, artists, and collectors. It’s been replicated in over thirty cities in North America over the past five years. We have sought out artists of all disciplines to launch our inaugural PSA Community Supported ART (PSA/CSA) program.

Here are the basics of how the CSA works:

For Artists:

Six selected artists create 15 “shares” for the program. A typical share will consist of a work of art or object of artistic production. Multiples are encouraged, however creative ideas that translate your practice into this format are also welcome. Examples include a run of screen-prints, a series of small tea cups, an edition of photographs, letterpress editions of a poem or short story, or even 15 small original paintings. Collaborations between artists or work by collectives are also welcome.

To submit your work for consideration for the PSA/CSA program, please click the PSA/CSA Artist Submissions link.

For CSA Members:

Interested collectors purchase a share (aka a “membership”) via the link below and in return receive six locally produced artworks, delivered in a “boxes”. The pick-up evenings will be at local art sites and will be events in themselves.

Pick up will be on December 12, 2021 from 12PM – 3PM at Local Works at 1312C Harrison Ave., McComb, MS 39648.

Summary:

Six artists will receive a stipend of $250 to produce 15 art works.
